I read on someone's twitter (may have been Colin Tattum) that we can't afford any loans unless someone is offloaded. Mentioned Zigic wants to stay as he's happy here. To be honest I think he'll still be here in Feb as no club will match his wages, can't see him taking a pay cut to move on. Hopefully Ridgewell gets moved on for some decent cash and C H can bring in a couple of quality loans. Don't think Ridge wants to be here so may as well cash in on him. I'd be more dissapointed if he stayed and either Redmond or Beausejour went instead. If we need strikers and there's no cash available, C H may well have to bring in the youngsters as the only option. I just hope C H is given a bit to spend if there are any players on their way, selling players without replacements would be a disaster for us, but it's out of our hands. I just want the end of January to come fast!! |

Ermmmmmm yeah the last time was when we produced tait, sturridge, frain, clarkson & dean peer. Only problem with that lot they were poor championship players and at best league one players. This time I would like to think that atleast two from our current crop are much better. On the topic great shout for delfonso. |

Hang on a minute, thats almost criminal... Studge and Taity were both on their way to being top players until injury hit in. Frainy played 300 games and is a true Blue legend Clarkson was and still is a bluenose And Peer never ever gave less than 150% EVERY game. Loved everyone of them far more than, Bentley, Hleb, Butt, Melciott, Heskey.....on on on. |

think all are been bit harsh on rooney, gives 100% every time he plays, saturday he played up front on his own and did ok without much help. dont think he is the answer but he isnt bad to have as our 4th choice striker. |

Rooney works his socks off, I also think he has potential to be quite the finisher as well, I think his main drawback is pace though, which doesn't allow him to get many opportunities to shoot. Hopefully they can develop him to be a little bit more clever if he can't get the speed to cause problems. He could do a lot worse than watch and study Marlon King and work on his ball control and movements. King doesn't really have much pace but it isn't needed with him. |

I love all of those players but in imo none of them were top flight players. Perhaps having better players around them at the time may have helped. However your right more respect is deserving of these players, my apologies sir. |

Some of the tube drivers in London seem to be great at striking, would available be within our budget of 3 magic beans as well. |

For me Rooney is not good enough at this level and giving him a run in games in the hope that this will improve him is a risk we cannot afford to take with a play off place within our grasp. The call for Jervis and/or Asante to be given a chance again is letting heart rule head. If either were good enough then no doubt like Mutch and Redmond they would playing. The reason they are not is that they are not good enough yet and may prove not to be, only time will tell. We have a long record of producing very little from our very modest youth set up but things have taken a turn for the better with the emergence of Mutch,Redmond and hopefully Butland but we have a very long way to go to reach the standards that say Villa have achieved consistently for some years now. The goal always has to be to get the best players we can and that means being objective about ability, not letting judgement be clouded by emotion and CH and his staff will make sure that does not happen. With the exception of Andrew Johnson (who we nicked from Luton Town as a 16 year old so we can question if he counts as coiming through our youth set up properly) that has gone on to become a top quality player. Now many countless youngsters have come and gone to the club over the years never to make it not only at Blues but even as professional footballers? I know that is true for all clubs but my point is that our track record with youth is dreadful and quality is the rare exception rather than the rule. Assuming they are good enough just because they are on our books is letting heart rule the head IMO. I would love to see DJ back and think he would do a great job for us but the loan fee and wages would be the problem. I have a feeling we won't see anyone coming in until the loan market opens next month and we know exactly who has gone and what if any funds the club as to spend. Let your heart beat strong and all that. |
